K57
K57 is 100% hand-made, hand-moulded and blue-tempered, i.e. fired in low-oxygen conditions, with four equally usable sides and a rough, varied surface. Each brick bears the thumbprints of the craftsperson who made it. It has a wide range of dark brown shades with lilac and burgundy tones. Some of the bricks have uneven areas of greenish yellow due to the light slurry added to the wet clay in the wooden mould. The bricks have sand aggregate on the surfaces and are partially vitrified areas.
K57 was the second brick in the Kolumba range and was developed in collaboration with Lundgaard & Tranberg Architects for the Playhouse in Copenhagen, which was completed in 2008.
